6061 Aluminum Plate is an aluminum alloy primarily composed of magnesium and silicon, which form the strengthening Mg₂Si phase. Additional elements such as manganese and chromium are often added to reduce the negative effects of iron impurities, while small amounts of copper or zinc can improve alloy strength without greatly reducing corrosion resistance. In some cases, zirconium or titanium is added to refine grain structure and control recrystallization behavior.

Because Mg₂Si can be solid dissolved in aluminum, 6061 aluminum alloy can achieve artificial age-hardening properties, giving the material a balanced combination of strength, toughness, and processing performance. As a result, 6061 aluminum plate offers medium strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and reliable oxidation resistance.

Due to these advantages, 6061 aluminum plate is widely used in industrial structural applications that require both strength and corrosion resistance. Common applications include trucks, tower structures, ships, trams, railway vehicles, machinery components, aerospace parts, and various engineering structures.
