301 Stainless Steel is a metastable austenitic stainless steel that maintains a fully austenitic structure under complete solid-solution conditions. Among stainless steel grades, 301 is one of the easiest to strengthen through cold working. By means of cold deformation processing, its strength and hardness can be significantly improved while still retaining good plasticity and toughness.
In addition, 301 stainless steel provides good resistance to rust under atmospheric conditions. It is mainly used in the cold-worked state for manufacturing equipment components that need to withstand high loads while reducing overall equipment weight and maintaining corrosion resistance. Another notable characteristic of this material is its tendency to undergo work hardening when subjected to external impact, allowing it to absorb greater impact energy and provide enhanced safety protection for both equipment and personnel.
However, 301 stainless steel plate has relatively limited corrosion resistance in aggressive chemical environments containing acids, alkalis, and salts. Therefore, it is generally not recommended for applications involving severe corrosive conditions.
